The Benefits of Aromatherapy

aromatherapyOne great natural intervention to help with stress and many other issues is Aromatherapy.  This is a practice whereby you use volatile plant oils, including essential oils, to create psychological and physical well-being.

Aromatherapy uses essential oils that are the pure essence of a plant. In addition, they use cold pressed vegetable oils, jojoba, herbs, mild powders and more.  Aromatherapy can be used in a few ways. You can inhale essential oils on a tissue or by smelling the products from the bottles.  The aroma of the essential oils is said to stimulate the brain to trigger the desired reaction, whether that’s peace of mind, wellbeing, serenity and more.  One example is the use of eucalyptus essential oils to help ease congestion.

Another option is the physical application of the oils.  This is when the oils are gently applied to the skin and are absorbed into the bloodstream.  Of course, these essential oils are only to be applied in a diluted state since they are quite potent – and they should be mixed by a professional.  Usually, the essential oils are diluted into a carrier oil such as cold pressed vegetable oil.

Essential oils used in aromatherapy are said to have many therapeutic purposes.  Like anything else, not everyone will find that they work and not everyone will believe in their potential. In addition, it’s important that you know what you are doing before you start doing aromatherapy and that you work with someone who is qualified in the field and knowledgeable.

Essential Oils for Wellness

lavender Essential oils authentic elixirs beauty and natural wellbeing. There is for every moment or mood, from lavender to pink, through the lemon, jasmine, bergamot, orange blossom and sandalwood.

The sense of smell causes us intense feelings. Simply inhale a scent for a few seconds for rekindling memories forgotten or feel a sudden coolness and wellness. All this happens because the part of the brain that controls emotions is the same that registers smells.

So one can make us smell and remember a particular situation and the mood that accompanied it. Translated into the language of beauty and wellness, means that if your body gets used to relax every time that smells like lavender, you will rest like a baby whenever you perceive this essence. That is the principle of Aromatherapy.

Distillation

This technique uses the scents of nature to improve the physical, mental or emotional state. Its base consists of distilling the essential oil of flowers, leaves, roots, seeds or fruits of various trees and plants. This is a volatile aromatic liquid produced by specialized glands and we can see easily. For example, if we pass the fingers by a branch of eucalyptus or bay, the hand will be impregnated with the smell. It’s like getting the vital energy of natural elements, which benefits us in many ways. And is that the Aromatherapy not only serves to relax: the essential oils can be calming, refreshing, invigorating and stimulating.

How do they work the essential oils?

They can enter the body topically (through the pores) and inhalation. Applied to the skin, relax muscles and fight inflammation. When inhaled, alter our mood. In both cases, the effect is very fast, as inhaling a scent, thousands of molecules travel through the nose to be detected by receivers placed on top of this body. After a signal is sent to the limbic brain, where reside the memory and emotion.

That is why we associate the aroma with situations closely linked to mood. Often, even those facts that relate to our conscious mind has forgotten.
